LAMINATES

Hot or thermal laminates are typically stronger and cost significantly less than cold, but require more expertise and attention during the learning curve. Cold or Pressure Sensitive ("PSA") laminates are more expensive due to the material itself (usually vinyl) and need for a release liner. Cold laminates adhere to more materials, yet are prone to more silvering and bubbling. Low-Melt laminates are similar to a hot laminates in the fact that they have an adhesive rather than release liner. Lower temperatures cut back on stretching of film, which results in a flatter print and help to avoid blistering or print boil.
