FIELD SERVICES ENGINEER

Are you looking to join an energetic, busy, creative, technical team? Global Imaging has an immediate need for a Technical Services Specialist. This person can be located almost anywhere in the U.S. and work remotely.

We sell grand format printing equipment, substrates, inks, and ancillary products. We perform the installation, de-installation, training, and in-person and telephone technical support and break-fix on a number of the product lines we carry.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary role of the Field Service Engineer is to support our customers (primarily the US, but some Canada) over the phone, e-mail, over TeamViewer/Facetime, and in person.
 
This will include:

  • Installation and de-installation of various equipment we sell
  • Research on unknown issues to find solutions and clearly convey ideas to customers
  • Applying creative problem solving individually and as a team
  • Understanding and willingness to learn new software and hardware as well as pass on and share knowledge learned within the team, company, and with customers
  • Advise management and manufacturer regarding customer satisfaction and product performance
  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service as the first point of contact for customers
  • Training and Technical Support for clients and internal staff
  • Training clients on new equipment, workflow, applications, and integrated systems.
  • Training Global Imaging staff members (sales and other technical)
  • Trade show participation

 

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of related technical support and/or service experience, dealing with customer and product issues, and/or 3+ years of wide/grand format printer operation
  • Professional phone, e-mail, in-person communication skills, and appearance
  • Ability to ask customers targeted questions to quickly understand the root issue
  • Ability to communicate and walk clients through a series of actions until the issue is solved
  • Excellent ability to work with equipment from both an operational and break-fix perspective
  • Evidence of skills with tools and electrical components
  • Color Management skills are a plus
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign is a plus

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Desire to work closely with a team and exhibited skills in teamwork and team sharing
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer skills
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and colleagues
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to uphold high standards of process requirements
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Must possess the ability to self-start and stay focused on detailed individual tasks
  • Must be able to work well with a team and take instruction from senior team members
  • Desire for a fast, energetic pace and ability to manage a variety of open issues at once
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements
  • Ability to lift 80+ pounds
  • Able to work long days, weekends, and holidays when required.
  • Ability to work around customers’ production and maintenance schedules.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 70% or more. Travel is sometimes on short notice.
