30-YEAR REWIND << The Origin Stories of Global Imaging, Inc.
This June marks 30 years since Global Imaging was officially launched by Greg Lamb, Tara Giffin Lamb, and their original partner, William Kendrick. It was an idea scribbled on a napkin, fueled by equal parts curiosity, caffeine, and sheer determination. We were in our 20s, working at a local photo lab, and dreaming about something bigger—something ours. Back in 1995, digital printing was barely a whisper, websites were still measured in the tens of thousands, and no one had email at home. But somehow, we saw an opening.
So in honor of this milestone, we’re taking a walk down memory lane and sharing a series of short stories about how we got started. Some are funny. Some are painful. All are 100% true.
Each post will take you back to ’94-’95 with us—to the awkward technology, the bold decisions, the occasional chaos, and the heart behind it all. We’ll sprinkle in a few cultural throwbacks for fun (yes, there will be Beastie Boys references) and reflect on the “why” that’s guided us ever since.
We’re calling this series: “Rewind: The Origin Stories of Global Imaging, Inc.”
Follow along with us as we revisit the little moments that shaped our big leap. Because if there’s one thing 30 years in business has taught us, it’s this: The beginning matters.
Our “why” is still the same. And we’ve never stopped learning.
